Week 2 (Post 1) Chapter 1 - The Photograph as Contemporary Art

Chapter 1 discusses how photography is an art and what photographers try to express with their photos, On chapter 21, Charlotte Cotton states that "all of the photographers here evolve from a strategy or happening orchestrated by the photographers for the sole purpose of creating an image" What this means is that photographers don't just take random photographs because it looks good. They actually go through a process of making observations while letting sequences unfold. When the time is right, they snap a shot to capture the moment of action. Photography became widespread around the 1960's and 1970's. Based on the pictures in the chapter, photography was popular among Japanese artists, In most photographs, the photographer is always focused on a subject, whether it be the background or foreground. Depending on which is the subject, the opposite will always be blurred so as ti keep their audience's attention on the subject. Some photographs have leading lines that help direct an audiences' attention to the subject. Overall, photography has definitely evolved thanks to new technology and will continue to become more high quality in the future.
