Week 14 (Post 2) FA 333 Project 5

The final project for Video & Sound class is to create three, one-minute abstract videos of three different truths. The task itself doesn't seem hard, but trying to take an idea and making it abstract is the hardest part. The video itself cannot contain any copyright music, however my idea requires me to include a small snippet of a song. The truths I have chosen include "It's easy to hate on something you know nothing about", "It is amazing to see the lengths people go through to annoy others", and "Days would be easier if they would just happen later" I have ideas for the first two truths, but am still stumped on the last. My idea for the first truth is to film me being bored and reviewing different anime I could watch. Then cut to a a bad version of the opening song (which is the small copyright snippet) following another cut to me cringing then showing my laptop screen in which the anime is on my dropped list having not watched any episodes at all. I feel it is representational, however upon talking to a few friends and colleagues, they believe it is abstract since I am only implying the truth and not simply stating them. My idea for the second truth is to incorporate memes that annoy people. I wan to make these videos funny, but the abstract portion is what throws me off.

Week 14 (Post 1) DTC 355 Project 5

Four project 5 in Multimedia Authoring, our assignment was to create a website in Dreamweaver. Considering I already had a template made from project 4, I used to code I had in the HTML file and modified it in Dreamweaver creating a navigation bar, playing with the color of the text and links as well as adding shadow effect to the text. This assignment was tough as I was new to Dreamweaver, but was also the most fun project I have worked on in DTC 355. The website is currently viewable at http://users.tricity.wsu.edu/~johnwesley.go This is the completed version for the project, but not the completed version for how I want it to actually look like. There are several modifications I would like to make and additions I would like to add, but I first need to learn how to use the Dreamweaver program more. Creating websites takes time and it's no wonder website designers make decent money. My hope is to eventually finalize the site so I can use it for my professional career as a voice actor since that is the career path I have chosen to pursue. I based my website on those of my friends' websites, most of whom are new but working in the professional voice over industry.

Week 13 (Post 2) FA 333 Project 4

The fourth project for Video and Sound class was to get into a group and do a short three to five minute documentary. Our topics were Cinma Verite, Personal Diary or a non-fiction investigative film. I partnered up with Johnny Garcia and Meha Naran and we all decided to do a personal diary about my life as an online voice actor. The video starred me talking about my experience, recent roles I've been cast as and small information about the ins and outs of the industry. The video also included a small segment of me doing a demonic laugh and Johnny giving it a whirl by doing a small impression if Spongebob Squarepants. Meha gave ideas and co-assisted Johnny in editing, while Johnny was both the filmer and main editor. Our video was about 3 and a half minutes and was more informational and fun. We have yet to receive a grade on it, but we hope we did well.

Week 13 (Post 1) FA 332 and DTC 355 Project 4

For Print & Web class, our project 4 was to compose a small HTML website that includes a table, external and internal pages and testing of color pallets on a societal or historical issue. Having done HTML last semester, I created the website in a mere ten minutes on a controversial movement in the gaming industry called #Gamergate. This movement was discrimination against women in gaming, whether they be game creators or activists. My website included a homepage, an all about the movement page which was an external link, a targeted individuals page which was an internal page that included a table of 3 of the main targets in the movement and a contact me page which had a "mailto" action linked to me email. Project 4 for DTC was a similar assignment, but required more specificity. For this website, I created a template for my personal voice acting website which I then eventually decided to use for Project 5 in DTC 355. HTML and website design seems to be my forte in the DTC major at the moment, but I am hoping to expand my video editing skills more. My hope for next semester is that I work with video editing a bit more as well as sound editing as that is my desired field. Second to that, I would love to learn animation and character designs as those are my close second desired field. At heart, I have always known I was a designer and creator, but I never took that leap until now because of parents influence in majoring in something marketable.
